【Substance 3D Painter】List of all 56 filter effects (Part 2)

This article presents a list of all 56 filters available in Adobe Substance 3D Painter, from 21 to 40 filter effects that can be seen in the image.

21. Height To Normal

Converts the height map of the Height channel to a normal map and applies it to the Normal channel.

22. Highpass

This filter emphasizes the contrast of the prominent outlines that are the color switching areas from the input image, and highlights and shadows are included. The rest of the image will be 50% gray. It is basically used for grayscale images.

*In the example below, the filter is applied to the Height channel.

23. Histogram Scan

This filter corrects levels with two parameters: reference point and contrast. It features easy adjustment of gradation.

*In the example below, the filter is applied to the Height channel.

24. Histogram Shift

This filter shifts the numerical values of the input image to the entire image.

*In the example below, the filter is applied to the Height channel.

Inverts the value of the input image.

The MatFinish series filters introduced here are a group of filters that look like metal finishes,
These filters look like metal finishes,
They are similar to metal finishes, and have effects on Normal and Roughness.

37. MatFx Comic Book

This filter converts the image to a comic-like touch.
The input image can be selected from Base Color, Diffuse, Ambient Occlusion, or Curvature.

*Base Color is used as input in the following example.

38. MatFx Detail Edge Wear

This filter is used to apply edge wear effects.
Two types of input, Normal and Height, can be selected.

In the example below, Normal is used as the input for filtering.
(The normal map on the left side of the foundation was incorrect, so some of the data is incorrect.)

39. MatFx Edge Damages

This filter is a damage filter with scratches, etc., on the edges.

40. MatFx HBAO

This filter generates Ambient Occlusion from Height or Normal.

*In the example below, Ambient Occlusion is generated with Normal as input.

I would recommend Height To Normal.
Although the Height channel is automatically converted to Normal,
Height To Normal filter is useful for fine-tuning.
